Schedule Details/Additional Information:
The Ambulatory Float Pool supports clinical staffing across the Wake Market. Clinics typically operate 8a-5p, Monday through Friday; however, there can be variations.
Pay Range
$32.45 - $48.70
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred.
- Minimum of two years nursing experience required, preferably in an oncology environment
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of applicable state
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required within one year in select areas.
- Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) preferred and/or must be obtained within one year. Additional specialized training and or certifications in assigned specialty area are required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide patient/family centered care using the nursing process and focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs. This includes application of critical reasoning and astute clinical judgement in order to expedite appropriate care and treatment, especially given that the patient may present with complex problems or potentially life-threatening conditions.
- Demonstrates self-directed learning through completion of any orientation requirements, nursing certification/updates and continuing education programs. Possesses clinical assessment skills relative to the hematology or oncology patient/family. Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer.
- Interacts with patients during face-to-face encounters or through a variety of telecommunication strategies, often developing long-term relationships.
- Facilitates continuity of care using the nursing process, multidisciplinary collaboration, and coordination of appropriate health care services and community resources across the care continuum. Identifies clinical priorities and initiates action to improve patient outcomes.
- Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through ensuring patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
- Utilizes and promotes the use of technology and equipment to enhance the safety of patients and staff.
- Promotes a healthy work environment, communicating effectively to promote sharing of information throughout the continuum of care and as an effective member of the healthcare team.
- Performs and maintains competency for point-of-care testing as assigned, waived and or non-waived, ensuring compliance with AHWFB policies and with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Applies the provisions of the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to their own professional obligations and for the patients entrusted in their care.
- Knowledgeable about and provides leadership in the clinical setting and provides operational accountability for and coordination of nursing services, including the appropriate skill mix and delegation of roles and responsibilities for licensed and unlicensed nursing personnel.
- Demonstrates the ability to function in a professional ambulatory care setting through active participation in a professional practice model. This includes participating in shared governance, adherence to standards of care, participation in peer review and professional development promoting leadership and clinical excellence, effective team skills, autonomous practice and acknowledgment of accountability for actions and critical thinking.
- Pursues lifelong learning that updates and expands their clinical, organizational, and professional roles and responsibilities.
- Designs, administers and evaluates nursing services within the organization in accord with relevant federal requirements, state laws and nurse practice acts, regulatory standards, and institutional policies and procedures.

Assisting ambulatory oncology clinics across the Advocate Health Wake Forest (AHWFB) market, provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
