About Position
As a Nurse Educator, you are responsible for staff development, which includes the application of adult education principles, as well as patient and family education. The position performs an outcome evaluation relative to clinical practice, provides consultation to other health care providers and is an excellent clinician.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for advanced knowledge in the specialty area and applies theories and concepts derived from the biological and behavioral sciences, as well as integrating adult learning theory into the nursing specialty.
- Requires advanced leadership skills, including role modeling, coaching and monitoring to develop the nursing staff. You also need to be skilled in consultation to collaborate with nursing management, other departments and professionals within the hospital as well as in the community.
- Requires advanced clinical practice skills, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a patient population whose age is determined by the educator’s specialty. You will also assist with legal and regulatory standards to maintain quality care.
- Advanced adult education skills to develop the staff using a variety of adult learning principles including didactic, self-directed and clinical modalities. The position requires outcome evaluation of these teaching and learning strategies.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensor, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the age of the patient served and meets standards of quality as measured by the department Competence with Special Populations competency standards.
- Evidence based nursing practice, along with critical thinking skills are required to provide optimally safe patient care when interacting with internal and external contacts and exercising judgment and making decisions. Professional nursing practice is congruent with the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.

Qualifications: Required and/or Preferred
Education: Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or other healthcare related field required. Master's degree preferred in nursing or other healthcare related field.
Experience: Requires two years clinical experience in the specialty area.
License(s): Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license.
Certification(s): Requires current BLS certification by the American Heart Association standards.
Computer / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
