The University of Portland's School of Nursing welcomes applications for full-time tenure-track nursing faculty at the assistant and associate professor levels. The School of Nursing seeks innovative faculty who enjoy teaching in a collaborative environment, and who have expertise in simulation, informatics, leadership, mental health, and acute and/or chronic care nursing of adults and children. DNPs are also encouraged to apply.

The School of Nursing values a diversity of backgrounds and intellectual perspectives that create an environment of rich student mentoring within a community of scholars. The undergraduate and doctoral programs are built on the interconnectedness of individual social needs, clinical care, and community conditions.

Successful candidates will have a high level of enthusiasm and engagement in innovative pedagogy. The School of Nursing is ideally suited for candidates with a focus on cultivating human learning capacity. The School of Nursing implements state of the art simulation in ambulatory, acute, and telemedicine facilities.

These are full-time faculty positions at the assistant and associate professor level with benefits. Benefits include: medical & dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, sick time, tuition remission benefits starting after 90 days (employee) or 2 years (spouse and children) of employment, retirement contributions after 2 years of employment, and eligibility for the University's home purchase assistance program. These positions begin August 2022 and remain open until filled.

Undergraduate baccalaureate generalist nurse faculty job responsibilities include but are not limited to team teaching in a concept-based nursing curriculum across the lifespan and care continuum.

Graduate faculty job responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching in the Doctor of Nursing Practice-Family Nurse Practitioner and/or Adult-Gero Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Programs. All faculty teach across programs, as well as assist students in achievement of course objectives, guide student interaction in course-related work groups, and grade coursework and provide feedback.

Educational, Experience & Licensing Requirements:

Required: Doctoral degree in Nursing or other health-related field (PhD, DNP, EdD).

Required: Active unencumbered RN license, and eligible for Oregon RN licensure.

Preferred: If a DNP, national certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse (FNP, AGACNP or AGPCNP)

Preferred: 1-3 years of related practical/professional experience in a team-teaching, concept-based curriculum.
